Botanica Series

Bay Grape | SOLD | 24" x 30"
From the Botanica series, this painting is a personal favorite. I was very pleased with the way I was able to render the matte surface of the leaf, and still enable the viewer to get a sense of the subtle curves shown off by the effect of light.

Bermudiana | Available | $1,500 | 20" x 30"
Bermuda's national flower, the Bermudiana can be found growing wild in the months of March-May. I wanted to depict the flower as I have usually found it, at the base of limestone walls surrounded by other plants. One of the Botanica Series.

Botanica | Available | $6,500 | 40" x 60"
The central painting of the Botanica series. The objective of this painting was to devise a triptych that had a strong composition when combined or displayed separately. The name for the show, and this painting was given to me by Manuel Palacio, an artist friend.

Heart of Palm | Available | $1,800 | 24" x 36"
One of the Botanica Series of paintings, Heart of Palm was an interesting study for me. I wanted to try and capture the effect of light as it shone through the translucent center of a Palmetto leaf. I love the spectacular growth pattern of the leaf.

Inwood | SOLD | 24" x 36"
This is one of a series of three paintings that were displayed together in the Botanica show. I like to depict Bermuda cedar in an appropriate setting. I was pleased with the way I rendered the perspective of the gate.

Jerry's Window | SOLD | 24" x 30"
Part of the Botanica series, the title of this painting is humorous to me. While it is a window found on my brother-in-law's house, his wife Kathleen was the one who wanted the cedar window! So it actually is Kathleen's window!

Leaves | Available | $1,800 | 24" x 30"
Found in the Botanica series, this is a painting of a young traveller palm. I was drawn to the pattern in the leaf structure, and the range of colours in the leaf surface. I seem to find triples in everything I do.

Lizard | SOLD | 24" x 36"
This is one of a series of three paintings displayed together in the Botanica series. The Antiguan Anole is known as the "Warwick Lizard" in Bermuda. Once peculiar to Warwick, its habitat has spread throughout the island over the last 20 years.

Mailbox | SOLD | 24" x 36"
One of three paintings displayed together in the Botanica show, Mailbox is actually found near to the "Inwood" gate. One of many mailboxes that are actually still serviced. The sign is a 'restored' version - there is no longer a Saturday mailbox collection in Bermuda.

Match Me If You Can | Available | $6,000 | 24" x 72"
Displayed at the Botanica show, I enjoyed producing this painting. The vein system and colours found on the leaf of this plant are fascinating. In the winter months, the leaves tend to be more deep reds and dark greens which lighten and vary as the summer comes.
